Consult and develop a blockchain – and NFT-powered indie gaming platform featuring a complex, non-hierarchical, cooperative social structure. Implement a web-based explorer for community interaction and transparency.
Additionally, develop an indie game to showcase the platform’s capabilities.

Challenges
Complex Cooperative Structure: Developing a system with a non-hierarchical and cooperative social structure that sustains itself while providing ownership and asset exchange capabilities;
Seamless Blockchain Integration: Integrating blockchain technology seamlessly into game development environments and platforms;
Account Gateway Web Service: Implementing an Account Gateway web service that allows gamers to use a single account in multiple games and have their assets available across these games;
Totem Web Explorer: Designing and developing Totem Web Explorer that would provide community users with an ability to collaborate, as well as explore, buy, and exchange in-game assets;
Indie Game Development: Developing our own indie game on the Totem Platform with its assets.
Development Process and Solutions Delivered
Core Layer: Based on blockchain technologies, it serves as the single source of truth for the entire ecosystem.
Decentralized Middleware: Enables game developers to build games in any environment using familiar development tools, without needing to interact directly with the blockchain.
Account Gateway: Allows users to access multiple games on the Totem platform with a single account and share their assets seamlessly across those games.
Lambda Functions: Provide read-only access to blockchain data for lightweight queries and analytics.
Integration Plugins: Plugins for commonly used game engines offer streamlined integration, eliminating the need for developers to learn blockchain-specific technologies.
Assets: Virtual in-game items represented as NFTs, usable across all Totem games for true digital ownership and interoperability.
Key Feature:
The key feature of the Totem Explorer is the Asset Renderer, a powerful tool developed by our designers. It visualizes how different NFT items and avatars transform their appearance across various games on the platform, offering users an engaging and informative preview.
This innovative feature not only showcases the versatility of NFTs but also provides a comprehensive depiction of their wide-ranging characteristics. It highlights how assets evolve based on game environments, reinforcing the flexibility and richness of digital ownership within Totem.
The main purpose of the Asset Renderer is to visually depict the unique characteristics of in-game NFTs—both Items and Avatars—allowing users to explore and engage with their distinct attributes in real time.
To enhance this experience, we created a custom graphic preset specifically for this tool. It brings to life the diverse qualities of Totem NFTs in an intuitive and visually engaging way.
For Avatars, the Asset Renderer supports a wide range of characteristics, including body type, body strength, gender, color variations, and different hairstyles. This enables users to fully appreciate the dynamic, customizable nature of their digital identity within the Totem ecosystem.
Seamless Asset Purchasing
For the Totem Explorer, we also introduced an effortlessly streamlined asset purchasing experience that redefines how users engage with virtual items. The goal was to make ownership and interaction with NFTs as intuitive as possible.
This user-friendly process is powered by the meticulous integration of blockchain technology, which ensures secure, transparent, and trustworthy transactions throughout the platform.
To enable easy payments, we integrated the Paper payment system, providing users with a seamless and secure method for purchasing digital assets—no complicated setup required.
Results and benefits
Through the integration of blockchain technology, the development team successfully enabled true ownership and exchange of virtual assets within the Totem DAO platform. This empowered both game developers and players by creating a secure and transparent ecosystem for digital asset interaction.
The streamlined game development process, supported by open-source integrations, allowed creators to focus on building immersive gaming experiences without needing deep knowledge of blockchain technologies.
In addition, the user-friendly Totem Web Explorer played a key role in fostering community collaboration and asset transactions, further driving user engagement and supporting Totem’s core mission.
